I guess people vote for the party that offer the best prospects, no one wins if they promise work and sweat! So the guy who wins the elections when he arrives at the power he has do to something very different from what made them win. 

 This is a situation that makes the people not trust the system. To me democracy doesn't work if you have to shrink the government or cut anything.

 The guy who is in power has won by promising more, not less!
