Safe is not Safe

“It's not because things are difficult that we dare not venture. It's because we dare not venture that they are difficult.”
― Lucius Annaeus Seneca

If you go to study management and take an MBA because it works 20 years ago and is safe .......................

Never Give up on Your Children

There are many ways to skin a cat. Einstein was a disaster in normal schooling. so what. Their parents tried something untested.

My parents were so worried that they consulted a doctor,” recounted Einstein’s sister, Maja Einstein. She was referring to how slow was Einstein in learning how to talk. History has it that Einstein began using words after the age of 2. His slow development earned him a name; his family in fact called him “the dopey one,” others in his family dubbed him as “almost backwards.”

The Feel-good movement

The feel good society movement is the idea that if you say to your kids that they are a winner because they eat the cereals they will see themselves as winners. During the day you say that you are a champion in this ant that. I guess all society is in this right now including the armed forces.

We deprive our children, our charges, of persistence. What I am trying to say is that we need to fail, children need to fail, we need to feel sad, anxious and anguished. If we impulsively protect ourselves and our children, as the feel-good movement suggests, we deprive them of learning-persistence skills.

Human beings are born with different capacities

JUST DO IT

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”
― Lao Tzu

Some  people, myself included  let things drag to long, relations that are not going anywhere tax situations that are not going in the right direction. Until now when finally act I never ever felt sorry for the change . I should act faster in retrospective. I let things drag too long. To be able to act I need to have less stuff.

Just do It is a great advice.

Things that are good but don’t look good must have some edge

Things that are good but don’t look good must have some edge

NNTaleb

If you ignore the looks and only the results you will do much better in life than just do what looks good.

That is why you almost always lose money in anything that is a NO BRAINER, why? because if it makes total sense it's in the price already.

CHAPTER from SKIN IN THE GAME

Say you had the choice between two surgeons of similar rank in the same department in some hospital. The first is highly refined in appearance; he wears silver-rimmed glasses, has a thin built, delicate hands, a measured speech, and elegant gestures. His hair is silver and well combed. He is the person you would put in a movie if you needed to impersonate a surgeon. His office prominently boasts an Ivy League diploma, both for his undergraduate and medical schools.

The second one looks like a butcher; he is overweight, with large hands, uncouth speech and an unkempt appearance. His shirt is dangling from the back. No known tailor in the East Coast of the U.S. is capable of making his shirt button at the neck. He speaks unapologetically with a strong New Yawk accent, as if he wasn’t aware of it. He even has a gold tooth showing when he opens his mouth. The absence of diploma on the wall hints at the lack of pride in his education: he perhaps went to some local college. In a movie, you would expect him to impersonate a retired bodyguard for a junior congressman, or a third-generation cook in a New Jersey cafeteria.

Now if I had to pick, I would overcome my suckerproneness and take the butcher any minute. Even more: I would seek the butcher as a third option if my choice was between two doctors who looked like doctors. Why? Simply the one who doesn’t look the part, conditional of having made a (sort of) successful career in his profession, had to have much to overcome in terms of perception.

Zero-COVID fanatics are destroying our world.

Zero-COVID fanatics are destroying our world.

Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.

Super happy

People say things don't bring happiness but...

I am very happy because at last  I have a trailer for my bikes. It's not super expensive but I didn't want to spend the money. I always thought It's stupid money to have a trailer that I only use at weekends,  lets buy some stocks instead.

I finally made up my mind. It's super easy and the bikes are safe.

great joy

My best advice for my Country

Portugal would benefit a lot if people can't change lanes in traffic. Traffic gets slow and a bunch of accidents for no apparent gain. In life I think it's the same, stay in your lane of business don't give up, obey your rules/system.

If you have a system you need to have time, play small, under promise and you will survive the full cycle and you will do well. Start when your system is not at all time highs.

“How much of a role does luck play in trading? In the long run,
zero. Absolutely zero. I don’t think anybody winds up make
money in this business because they started out lucky”

Someone is wrong

COAL MARKET: China is allowing more than 50 coal mines in Shanxi, Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia to re-start digging the fossil fuel. The measure follows last week's recommendation from China’s Politburo’s for an easing of aggressive steps to curb emissions and amid high coal prices

"Biden’s plan to mandate electric vehicles, as well as wind and solar, will make us even more dependent on our No. 1 global adversary, China,” said Steve Milloy. He called the proposals “a policy of national suicide.”

Perhaps soon you want to live in the west and we will produce everything in Asia because it's cheap and companies are not ignored. buy China stock market.

Everything you considered a product, has now become a service.

Why don't we feel Inflation, because we own nothing. I am renting a car , I rent my house etc... The only things I don't rent it's bikes and those now cost EUR 14,000 new. Here I can see big inflation.

If you don't own a mixer and you have access to a good mixed that is available in your building when you need one for a very small fee , you don't see inflation. But the mixer now costs USD 200 and you think it's really cheap.

When everything is a service you don't notice what you are paying.

A friend of mine is in the real estate business. He build holiday houses by the sea with pool etc.. security , gardens etc.. Instead of selling to one family each house was sold to 4 families. instead of paying EUR 1,000,000 each family paid 1/4. they can use the house 15 days every 2 months rolling windows. Does it work , of course it works.
