Natural Talent is not the basis of success

Most of the best athletes in Kenya are from the same village!

In the UK Matthew Syed in the book bounce says most of the top ranked players in the UK lived in the same street!

what is happening here, in both places lived the best coach of the country and naturally you have lots of boys and girls playing that sport. Opportunity and not talent is the key to success. Of course you can read in Bounce that the UK table tennis coach pushed their boys to the limit. They played hour & hours and they have good adversaries to practice.

Matthew Syed won the Commonwealth table-tennis championship three times, among other high-level accomplishments as a table-tennis player. Does this mean he is naturally talented? As told in his book Bounce, Syed eventually decided that his success was due to hard work and a series of valuable opportunities.

He had the good fortune of living in the catchment for a primary school in England where there was a teacher who was the country's top table-tennis coach. At one time, half the top table-tennis players in England were from one street and its vicinity - which alone goes against the idea that natural talent is the basis for success in a sport.

Your reputation is harmed the most by.......

"Your reputation is harmed the most by what you say to defend it." - Nassim Nicholas Taleb in The Bed of Procrustes

In essence, “never complain, never explain” is about keeping the power of neutrality on your side. It's about ignoring critics and dismissing their claims by your silence, rather than becoming defensive. It's a tactic that's worked wonders for Queen Elizabeth for more than six decades.

Rich families typically ....

Rich families typically stay rich, and poor families stay poor. Eventually there’s a regression to the mean, he wrote, but “the process can take 10 to 15 generations (300 to 450 years).”

It's strange but family management is better than professional management from MBA students .. Why? alignment of objectives.

Rich Dad, Poor Dad

From the Atlantic

An emerging body of research helps explain how the stress of poverty hampers the decision-making process. A study in Science last year found that poverty equates to a mental burden similar to losing 13 IQ points. Another study just published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology found that people who experienced economic uncertainty gave up on solving a difficult puzzle faster.
As Maria Konnikova wrote in the New York Times, living an unpredictable, erratic life can erode self-control: "If we’re not quite sure when the train will get there, why invest precious time in continuing to wait?"
Often, low-income people aren't sure what tomorrow will bring. So why waste time trying to diet?

When you don't have bread you don't invest in yourself ! My advice is don't spend money, save and keep a big amount of money on the side. Give but always keep something on the side. This money allows you to be able to think. If you don't have money you will just try to survive the next day.

NO Money = No Thinking

If you know how to spend less than you get, you have the philosopher's stone.
