 I secured a victory at this year's TransPortugal MTB Race, triumphing in a brutal stage through sheer pain and endurance. Competing in an age-group handicap system, I clung to the lead pack of younger, stronger cyclists who relentlessly tried to shake me off. A critical assist from Oskar Lindinger in the final moments helped me hold my ground.

For 5 hours and 18 minutes, I pushed my limits, my heart rate surging to a grueling 174 BPM—far beyond my redline. My chest felt like it might explode, but I refused to yield, embracing the pain to cross the finish line. Victories like this are rare for me; I often cruise to top-10 finishes, but winning demands a level of suffering I seldom endure. This triumph was worth every agonizing second. I don’t do this very often.
