This is the Man ! Not Trump or Hillary

“So much of what ails people has to do with diet and exercise,”

Gary Johnson

From Robert Bergland

If the presidential race were a true battle of the fittest, though, Johnson would be on top. While his Republican and Democratic opponents have faced questions about their health, Johnson’s fitness resume is likely only matched by a few people on the planet. He’s completed four Ironman triathlons, including an impressive 10:39 in 1999, averaging better than 20 mph for the 112-mile bike leg. In running shoes he has completed 17 marathons (best of 2:47). And as of this year, only 416 people have equaled him in scaling all of the Seven Summits, the highest peaks on all seven continents, including Everest. But, outside of perhaps skiing near his home in Taos, his favorite activity is biking.

He did finish one Transportugal bike race! this is a serious athlete with good head. I don't care if he doesn't know what is Aleppo! Ronald Reagan for sure never eared about Aleppo or Syria and  was one of the best ever.

To me for very important jobs you need to know 3 things:

a)To know the difference from good and bad
b)To know that the number of hours and effort one puts up makes a real difference
c)To set up big ambitious goals

i guess Gary Johnson has definitely the bottom 2 traits and possible someone who engages in serious sport is a good person and can distinguish the good and the bad.

I loved this quote! I would do the same

So, after completing the Tour Divide Race, two runs for president, and a slew of other feats of strength, what would Johnson most want to do if he had a day to himself?
“It would be a bicycle ride, probably mountain biking or road biking,” he says.

not so miserable life!

From BBC,
Jose Mourinho says living alone in Manchester has become a "bit of a disaster" and is beginning to tire of photographers camped outside his hotel.
Mourinho, 53, has been living in the city's Lowry Hotel since being appointed United manager in the summer.
Yet the Portuguese claims he is loath to venture out because of the persistent hordes of photographers.

"I just want to cross the bridge and go to a restaurant. I can't, so it's really bad," Mourinho told Sky Sports.

for 10 million pounds a season i would live in a different city too. His kids are 20 so no big deal. José use your time to work big time.

Just do it ...... but not in GOLF

Nike exits GOLF

From Bloomberg

Nike Inc.’s decision to stop selling golf equipment and a possible bankruptcy filing by the Golfsmith retail chain are raising concerns that the declining popularity of the sport is taking a toll on the companies that thrive on it.
Millennials, the key to the sport’s future, are shunning the expensive and time-consuming game in favor of more instantly gratifying pursuits like Pokemon Go and Netflix binges.

I don't know much about GOLF and i might say some stupid arguments I will give it a try (sorry to the GOLF lovers that are many for sure)

My view is that GOLF is losing popularity for 3 reasons

1. These days there is a bifurcation in the labor market, people who work work like crazy and many people don't have almost nothing to do. The ones that work a lot don't have time for a 5 hour round of GOLF and the ones that don't have a job don't have the money.

2. Many people are struggling and you have to pay each time you want to play vs running or biking.

3.I don't know if this is a stupid reason but when i want to to some mountain-bike i just put my shoes & bike gear and exit for the mountains without having to book anything. Most of the times i find some friends riding and we ride together for 2 or 3 hours. In Golf i guess you have to get a partner and book a exit time. too time consuming.

How Fast You Walk May Predict How Long You’ll Live

From Isis Tsee Life Sciences

Those who walked 1 meter per second (about 2.25 mph) or faster consistently lived longer than others of their age and sex who walked more slowly, the study showed.
"We're able to show that a person's capacity to move strongly reflects vitality and health," said study researcher Dr. Stephanie Studenski, a professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh.

However, the researchers also emphasized that the purpose of this study wasn't to get people to walk faster in hopes of living longer.
"Your body chooses the walking speed that is best for you, and that is your speed, your health indicator," Studenski said. "And that's what it really is: an indicator. Going out and walking faster does not necessarily mean you will suddenly live longer. You still need to address the underlying health issues."
The researchers showed they could reliably predict the 10-year survival rate of a group of people based on how fast they walked along a 4-meter track.

I don't agree with this idea that you could change nothing, if you walk faster if you exercise more if you do weights you will live longer. why? because your body improves every time you push it more.

yes you should test your limits and stress your body a bit. The body was designed to run & to chase animals. we were not made to sit and rest. Go out and walk fast. Do that everyday and you will live longer. I don't have any study but i feel that this is the reality.

Move and start today.

Money and slimness are never too much !

A good friend from Banco Santander (the sponser ) invited me to watch live one stage of the Tour of Portugal!

Here is a pic with Rui Vinhas the yellow jersey. I guess i am 20 kg too heavy and 25 years too old!

I am heading to NY today. I will put some weight now.

I finished my 4th EOX on saturday.

It's a Ultramarathon on Mountain Bike. The best riders finish in 10 hours!

I did 4th in my first EOX , 3rd, 9th and Saturday 9th overall again.

This year they created a Masters class with more than 45 years and i got a 2nd place prize!

11 hours on the bike.

The start was at 6 am in Spain. I woke up at 4.15 am shower, eat some sereals with juice and one coffee in my room (the Hotel Breakfast was closed) and my brother drove me to the start line

There were some 100 riders at the start line. Some of them were clearly out of my league! Bruno Rosa one of the best in Portugal was there and he ended up winning the race.

The start was too fast for me so i settled my pace and after several hours started to gain some places. After the 5th hour i was in a group of 7 feeling great. there were 5 riders at the front of us and then our group. unfortunately i got a flat tire and had to stop and repair. I lost 4 minutes and i lost the group. After that i rode alone for some 3 ou 4 hours and then got company. in the end i finish 9th arriving with Nuno Marques from Barcelos in the north of Portugal who is much better than me but was feeling bad.

it was a good day. temperatures of more than 35 celsius the only thing that i kept thinking was cold water. If it's true

i am very happy!
