Investing should be more like watching paint dry

“Investing should be more like watching paint dry or watching grass grow. If you want excitement, take $800 and go to Las Vegas.”

― Paul Samuelson

In Nick Murray book , SIMPLE Wealth , INEVITABLE Wealth he explains that investing should be like planting a tree. You plant , you watch , you put some water , you do nothing, you don't take her from the ground in the winter, during winter the tree does not grow and then in the spring and summer it grows again.

It gives you shade & fruit and when you die you leave it to your kids.

This is my tree in my house below

Don't fight

After disaster I had my first victory ever

After disaster in Stage 1 of TransPortugal I had my first victory ever in stage 6. TransPortugalMTB is a series of  8 Ultras in a Row. I did 55 hours last week on the bike. This year there was a lot of technical sections and I did an average of 18,5 km/h and finished 9th overall.

If you don't give up things change and from disaster I pulled out my first victory ever with help of my German friend Martin Crone.

It was one of the best moments of my life.

Never, never, never give up.

“Yes, but I have something he will never have…. Enough”

At a billionaire’s party Kurt Vonnegut informs his pal, Joseph Heller, that their host, a hedge fund manager, had made more money in a single day than Heller had ever earned from his popular novel Catch-22. Heller responds,“Yes, but I have something he will never have…. Enough”

"You might think you want an expensive car, a fancy watch, and a huge house. What you want is respect and admiration from other people, and you think having expensive stuff will bring it. It almost never does—especially from the people you want to respect and admire you.”

How to avoid an average life

Turn off the TV that is step 1.

  1. Watch TV. Spend countless hours watching television. Aim for at least 3-4 hours a day. Maybe one in the morning and definitely once you get home from work.
  2. Watch the News. News = fear. The more we let fear control us, the more average our life will be. That's why we watch the news. The news is our fear. When we start feeling confident and secure, just make sure to go to CNN and Fox to feel worse.
  3. Don't read books. Books? I stopped learning after College. I definitely won't be reading non fiction books. Everyone knows self help is a scam. I can't possibly improve.
  4. Wait until the New Year to create goals. Everyone knows this. Goals are only to be made as New Years Resolutions. It doesn't matter that the last 20 times I created them, they all failed. This year is different.
  5. No discipline. My word means nothing. It's less responsibility. I can do the important tasks, tomorrow. Why stress over it? I'd rather feel the pain of regret.
  6. Think you are special. I'm a special snowflake. My mom told me it and she knows better than everyone.
  7. Go on diets. Summer is coming! Might as well start this new fat blaster diet. It doesn't matter what I eat as long as I'm dieting.
  8. Hate Mondays. Ugh, Mondays are the worst. Back to work at the job I hate. The weekend is so far away! Sucks.

As you start to walk on the way, the way appears

Just start, and when you start everything changes for the best....just do it

Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.

If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you'll never get it done.
