 What I call the principle of optimism is that all evils are caused by a lack of knowledge. By ‘evils’ I mean anything that causes suffering or impairs human thriving. I have argued[1] that there are no limitations, other than the laws of nature, on our ability to eliminate evils by creating knowledge. And I agree with Karl Popper’s arguments[2] that this is done by problem-solving: criticizing and testing existing knowledge and creatively guessing improvements, usually incrementally. Thus, evils are problems – inadequacies or errors in existing knowledge.

 The Good old days were not good at all.

we have more trees, more fish more quality of life thanks to technology . We should bet in research not in solar panels. To cover the worlds with miles & miles of solar panels is totally inefficient and probably not good for the envoirment.

The world will use more energy not ......

Below we can see that the peak energy consumption in Texas keeps going up year after year including 2022. I already showed in this Blog that oil demand has grown 1 million barrels a day for the last 30 years, each year one more barrel a day. I live in Portugal and I have some friends who use electric bikes and before they used normal bikes. People want to do more. Any plan for the future that assumes that we are going to use less energy is dreaming. It's not going to happen.  Therefore all the plans to replace energy source A with B are going to fail. We will need A &B and probably C.

Since ESG is preventing investments in this space I see good opportunity here because there is nothing better than a lack of investment in the space to provide a good business for the incumbent.

People that have a dream, a purpose, a hobby are busy and are happy. I don't have a dream in my life, unfortunately. I enjoy many small things and I have sincere pleasure in improving and doing better small tasks. When I look at the plants in my house I feel really happy. When I go to the office in the morning I am also very happy . when I ride my motorcycle in the morning with the wind in my face It's liberating. I guess I will not reach any big goal, I just enjoy my life as it is. Bob Rotella quote is obvious true, people with a mission are very happy people too.

When I am in good shape, I am happy

I know that my body is me , not the voice inside my head. 

When the lockdowns started I didn't do a single minute what the government said, stay at home is the worse recommendation possible. I went out to a garden everyday and did some exercise.

My impression is that the people who did exactly what health authorities prescribed are now in deep trouble, as always. Think with your head, close the Tv, don't read news. Always keep in mind what the authorities did to the North American Indian.

It's a bit like if your goal is to lose weight it's not going to work, if you change one habit forever and embrace it and enjoy it , you will get results. 

The best is to really make an effort to do well whatever you do. it's enough to beat 90% of the world. to verify, to be on time to prepare, to double check, don't multitask, don't rush  etc...
