Everyone is interested in what's new. !

“Technology is the best way to differentiate ourselves” (29 May 2019)
In Alex Gunz future trend Blog (I recommend)

“Everyone is interested in what's new. Few people are interested in what's better.”  ― Al Ries, Jack Trout

I am not sure you can differentiate by using an iPhone or a i watch or anything like that. It's better to go out with friends without a phone. that is something new

i went with my wife to the best Japanese restaurant in Lisbon, GOJU.  No Phones  allowed.

amen it was really nice. This is new. A restaurant that has WiFi and that everyone is surfing the web (do we still say surfing) is not new . it's the normal.

that is to differentiate yourself. Very expensive , i drank just water!

on a different note i prefer to a decent Japanese and order the best dish in the restaurant than to go to the best and drink water

This is not new is just beautiful

If you are a trader sell, if you are an investor sit still

Wednesday, May 29, 2019 Francisco 0 Comments

My danger indicator is not yet in he critical zone. If it reaches 50% a lot of nasty things happen after that threshold. If you are an investor sit still. If you are a trader get out of the way we are falling as we speak.

Sometimes i am bullish in China economy but not in the stock market

Tuesday, May 28, 2019 Francisco 0 Comments

Why hasn't the Chinese stock market done better? Because they keep issuing more stock. (wsj.com)

I am like any other man. All I do is supply a demand.
Al Capone

From Leo Almazora, 27th may

Zweig noted that although China has held the mantle of fastest-growing economy for decades, its stock market peaked in October 2007, and has since trended downward to the tune of 0.2% in average annual losses; that means it’s lagged the S&P 500 by eight percentage points per year, counting reinvested dividends. Citing FactSet research, he said a US$10,000 investment in the MSCI China stock index would have ended just shy of US$19,600 over the past 10 years, as opposed to nearly US$39,700 from the same initial investment in the S&P 500.
...........................................
An analysis performed by L’Her and his colleagues showed that between 1997 and 2017, China’s market capitalization ballooned at an average annual rate of 27.5%, with 26.5% coming from the issuance of new shares and a measly 1% coming from capital appreciation.

In the rest of the world the situation is different

As private equity firm Pantheon puts it in a new report on the subject, “there is a disappearing act that many of us have missed.”

The data are striking. Globally, the number of publicly listed companies has fallen from 10,853 in 1996 to 5,985 last year, a 45% decline, according to data provided by Pantheon. In the U.S, the number of stocks has fallen by half in the past 20 years, from 7,322 to 3,671 last year.
if i became very bullish in the Chinese stock market pls give me a call and dissuade me. Not in the indexes perhaps with a local manager it can work.

Life is like riding a bicycle.

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”

“Contrary to popular belief, my experience has shown me that the people who are exceptionally good in business aren't so because of what they know but because of their insatiable need to know more. The problem with most failing business I've encountered is not that their owners don't know enough about finance, marketing, management, and operations-they don't , but those things are easy enough to learn-but that they spend their time and energy defending what they think they know.
Michael E. Gerber,
The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don't Work and What to Do About It

It is not the most intellectual of the species that survives; it is not the strongest that survives; but the species that survives is the one that is able to adapt to and to adjust best to the changing environment in which it finds itself……so says Charles Darwin in his “Origin of Species.”

i guess everything leads to the idea of doing what is working and doing less what is not working

The Hidden Curse of Achievement

Wednesday, May 22, 2019 Francisco 0 Comments

The paradox is that achieving a goal is what leads to instability, whereas the state of striving provides stability.
Humans, like most systems of the world, need a degree of volatility to stay healthy and being in a position where you have everything you could ever want makes you fragile to the instability that we instinctively aim to avoid.

Not having every luxury of stability, ironically, is what keeps us stable.

I guess it's good to have something to fight for.

we wouldn't love the summer if we don't have a winter

Day 2 of Trans Portugal

In day 1 i finished 6th feeling great

In day 2 picture below my GPS fell from my bike and i had to stop and move backwards on foot letting lots and lots of competitors pass while i was looking in the ground for my GPS!!! Really crazy stuff.

Day 2 i finished 26th!!!

Ended TrasPortugal in 10th after gaining many positions during the following days

“It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get up.”

I thought i was a veteran and i was careless i should have my GPS tapped into my bike! Lesson learned

Picture taken in the first climb of the day! my GPS disaster came at km 30

Eat sleep and race for 8 days.

Race Information
Transportugal Europcar Race! You must have already heard of it as it is the ultimate endurance race, and probably a different from everything you have done. More than an endurance race, it is a journey, the ultimate experience, a traverse of a country from north to south all on your own, racing as an individual. You and your GPS as inseparable friends.
Along 8 stages, you cross Portugal on your own putting your tenacity and toughness to the test. Support is not allowed and there are no aid stations along the 1000km of the race route, so you will have to do it without the caring help of your support team.

Sometimes, you'll race in complete isolation through the most remote countryside, most of the time alone and following an unmarked trail, no arrows or ribbons. The terrain adversities are numerous but the main adversity is the challenge itself.

I was invited to be a member of Europcar Team this year. The high of the season is the 8 day mountain bike race called Transportugal. It's a brutal event because there is no rest day, you race for 8 days non stop. You eat , sleep and race. Eat sleep and race for 8 days.

I finished in 10 place this year with an average speed of 21 km/h . I saw disaster twice but managed to survive. i finished 5th in stage 1 and i was feeling strong. In stage 2, I decided to try again and go for it but i lost my GPS (it was not properly fixed to the bike) and without GPS you can't see where to go. I had to turn back and find my GPS during that time some 20 competitors passed i was completely  desperate to see everybody taking me over like that. When i found my GPS i restarted and took back many positions but then i had a flat Tyre. I finished this stage on the 26th spot. Everything was lost! disaster.

The next stages where ok but after stage 4 i had a bad night of stomach problems i spent all night running to the toilet. i thought about quitting but at 6 am next day i decided to start without eating breakfast . i did the stage just on water and 6 dates (tamaras) i finished 8th. next day i fell but i was able to recover the 10th place in the general classification. It was a big fight full of problems.

the big lesson is that during the night while i was running to the toilette i really thought i should quit, i could not complete the 190k stage, the biggest of them all. How could i do a 8 ou 9 hour stage without eating. My stomach could not stand any food? I decided to start and my plan was just to try to finish the stage. i didn't care about the overall classification, my objective was just to drag my bike to the end line. after starting and despite of the rain and wind i felt ok, so i decided to go all out  just for 2 hours to see how i felt, after that i decided to try 2 hours more at a good pace i was sure that i would blow it but i didn't and i finished 8th and recovered many places in the GC! that was a big surprise. so get up from bed and just do it. you never know how things will turn out.

I finished so well because many better cyclists also had big stomach problems and quit, that was why i recovered so many places. in a race like this we become fragile and should only eat diet and very little food however we are in the best hotels of Portugal with great food and sometimes we eat too much and then we pay heavily. The body can not stand any sauce, pepper and dairy.
