Spain is deploying a basic income

From CNBC ----Some Spaniards are about to receive additional financial help as the government pushes through the first nationwide basic income, but there are doubts the initiative will reduce high levels of unemployment and inequality.
The Socialist-led coalition government will be spending about 3 billion euros ($3.29 billion) every year to support poorer citizens. The basic income is meant to reach 850,000 households and 2.5 million citizens. Spain has a population of about 46 million people. The plan to install a basic income was a pre-electoral promise, but it was accelerated due to the coronavirus pandemic and its economic fallout.

Households will receive financial help based on their income and the number of children or dependents it has. Government officials have said the minimum amount an adult will receive will be about half the minimum wage, which is 1,108 euros per month. However, the final details are being ironed out this week in parliament.

The Government wants do help?  Let's see

1.Who are they going to choose? Friends , party members?
2.If someone starts getting 1108 euros can it be discouraged from working?
3.If someone is not paying taxes and getting money from government can they vote? They are certainly not contributing to society?
4.The government does not want to help. In my country Portugal Face Masks pay VAT (6%).
5.If the government wants to help why not lowering the contribution companies pay social security? When a company decides to automate the extra layer of costs the government puts on employees are Key
6.The government wants to Help 2/3 of gasoline prices are taxes
7.The government wants to help, 50% of the power bill are taxes.
8.40% of the price of a new car are taxes.
9.If there are some rules you have to fulfill to get the 1108 euros / month for free I will bet a more and more people will make the grade. This is for sure people will do what is paid. To pretend you are poor let's you get away with 1108 euros then poor will be
10. Was the basic income voted in SPAIN? Not sure but I think not.

The Government wants to be big and have money to spent . That's all. if there are no poor people there is no reason government should be this big. The last thing government wants is to end the poor. They need the poor without poor why such a big government.

If I was in government I could pay a grant to all the people over a certain age (out of the labor force) that have a low pension. That has my vote. I think old people that for one reason or another have no money should be helped to have a decent life. For people in the working age let them work and try not to make that difficult with taxes and regulations.

Sorry for this political incursion. I will be back to sports and stock market tomorrow.
